Never Lose the Wonder
Doesn’t this photo look like a painting? It’s not. It’s a photograph that I took this morning, 6:29 AM, from the kitchen window at Hebron. Look at the sky and the swirling clouds. Look at the towering trees and the blades of grass. Look at the young tomato plants in buckets. And look at that magnificent moth! The Lord initially captured my attention with the fascinating underside of this moth, who sat utterly still on the window… for hours.
Then I began to consider the early-morning condensation on the window, which gives the photo the appearance of an ethereal watercolor painting. This miraculous beauty from the kitchen window at Hebron reminds me:
“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.“ Job 12:7-10
O Lord, how many are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all.
The earth is full of Your creatures,
animals both small and great.
They all wait for You…
to give them their food…
in due season.
You open Your hand…
and satisfy the desire…
of every living…
thing. (Ps. 104: 24, 27-28)
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! (Ps. 8:1)
I encourage you to ask the Lord to open your eyes to see the surpassing greatness of His power and His majesty. And when you are able, take pictures so that you can remember what He reveals to you. He delights to answer that prayer! Get ready!
All creation declares His praise, and as we see his majesty, we shall also give Him glory. May we never lose the wonder of His power and His love!
