This Friday, February 16th, twenty-one precious, lovely young women in our “extended family” will be putting on party dresses and preparing to go to a Father-Daughter dance. On the first of February, our office space at home was gradually transformed into a very special party dress boutique. We hung dresses in groups, size 6 girls and up; then we displayed shoes and hair accessories for all our excited shoppers. Finally the day arrived when the girls got to come over and pick out their dresses. We had wonderful volunteers who helped the girls with their selections, another volunteer who brought her sewing machine and did on-the-spot alterations, and other volunteers serving pizza supper. What a sweet, holy time we had together!
The style show that followed was pure joy: pressed down, running together, spilling over! Each girl came out one at a time to spin and twirl and model her dress for a clapping, cheering, enthusiastic crowd of onlookers.
We finished the evening with a pizza party…more love, more laughter, more lingering and listening to the Father’s rejoicing over us with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). It was more than audible, it was palpable! What can compare?!
Anticipating Friday, I’ve been singing a verse (over and over again!) from Chris Rice’s “Untitled Hymn:”
O, and when the love spills over, and music fills the night,
And when you can’t contain your joy inside,
Then dance for Jesus! Dance for Jesus! Dance for Jesus, and live.
Friday is coming, woooohoooo! And we pray all these stunning young ladies will dance for Jesus, Friday, and forever… and live!
