On Valentine’s Day, 2024, we decided to take God’s “kingdom love” to the streets. Each of our homeschool children picked a favorite scripture and put it on a self-illustrated bookmark. Then they got a Bible, tucked the bookmark inside, and prayerfully chose a person whom they wanted to give both Bible and bookmark. Taking Bibles and bookmarks, bottled water, and a small bag of Valentine’s Day treats, we set out together to love our neighbors.
One especially moving part of this outreach was that each individual child would read his/her scripture to the household they had chosen to bless. Then we all joined together to sing one of our favorite worship songs: “God so loved the world that He gave us His one and only Son to save us. Whoever believes in Him will live forever! The power of hell forever defeated, now it is well. I’m walking in freedom! For God so loved, God so loved the world….” Our voices rang boldly and beautifully through the streets of Candlelight on Valentine’s Day.
God is GOOD, and His love is everlasting! He has given us so much love to share….
